What a dumb theory!

Cortland - I keep hearing that the Jets should start Mark Sanchez immediately because they traded up in the draft to get him, and paid him a lot of money. That is just dumb.

Carson Palmer, a first overall pick, sat his entire rookie year.

If the Jets start Sanchez immediately because they traded up to get him, and paid him a lot of money, they are as clueless as the other people who subscribe to this flawed theory.

Starting lineup decisions shouldn't be made based on a player's salary.

Sanchez started 16 college games, and came out after his junior season.

He's has enormous potential, but probably needs some time to sit and learn.

But if he starts, it should be because he earned the job, not because of the trade and his salary.
