I feel the kid has what it takes to make it in this league. He Really has that it factor and I was happy with the pick when they drafted him. Most did not feel that the Jets addressed the CB need adequately when they drafted him and this may end up being the best draft we've had in years with all the potential our draftees have. I say let him take his lumps and put him opposite Milliner. We would have a very young secondary with Allen, Pryor, Milliner and McDougle for years to come and a young defense as a whole.
I'm going with Milliner and Patterson, or possibly even Walls to start the season if Patterson takes over the slot. . I like McDougle's upside, but as I've stated before, I just don't see our starting CB's having a total of 1 year experience combined. McDougle looking good in OTA's is nothing compared to covering a Patriots WR who's got Brady throwing to him.
I think it is a three horse race between Patterson, McDOugle, and Dowling. I do think Dowling will get in the mix, but he doesn't make plays on the ball as well as McDougle and Patterson, so I don't think he'll be in the running. McDougle and Patterson pick on Vick, with 3 INTs of Vick in 3 days of mini camp (2 by Patterson). It's going to be hard to not start Patterson with him making all those INTs in practice. Both CBs have great anticipation, but I think Patterson starts and McDougle takes over by mid season. There's nothing wrong with that. Make sure McDougle is 100% and his head is 100% then you slide Patterson to the slot and McDougle on the outside and then you have 3 CBs (including Milliner) with great ball skills (and Wilson, without any ball skillz, hits the pine).
