Keels blames Jets for holding up deal

Posted Jul 16, 2009

On his twitter page, agent Alvin Keels essentially blamed Mike Tannenbaum for Leon Washington's unsettled contract situation.

"I can't say that I'm the one holding this deal up," Keels tweeted. "I can only continue to work though."

Another problem is that Keels doesn't have a lot of experience, and that is holding up the process. This is a tough year to do contracts because of the potential of an uncapped year in 2010. This isn't a great year to have an inexperienced agent.

If Washington hadn't fired veteran agent Alan Herman, this deal would likely be done already.
