The New York Jets have signed free agent TE Richard Owens.

Owens (6-4, 273/Louisville/Gainesville, FL) was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Minnesota Vikings on May 3, 2004. He played in 39 games for the Vikings from 2004-06 before being waived and then signed by the St. Louis Rams on Sept. 12, 2007, where he appeared in 14 games. Owens was out of the NFL in 2008 after he was released by the Rams on Aug. 31.
