Rex Ryan, appearing with Mike Francesa on Wednesday, took on the Patriots.

“I never came here to kiss Bill Belichick’s, you know, rings,” said Ryan. “I came to win. Let’s just put it that way. So we’ll see what happens. I’m certainly not intimidated by New England or anybody else. . . .

“I think we already have sent a message to them,” said Ryan. “So they can read between the lines. . . . They can figure it out. And when they come here that second week of the season, we’ll see.”

What that message is, I'm not exactly sure.

But while Ryan's confidence is impressive, you have to wonder whether he has the ammo to back it up in Week Two.

After all, the Jets have an unsettled quarterback situation, and New England has perhaps the greatest QB of all time coming back after missing most of the 2008 season with a knee injury.

On paper, that gives the Patriots a clear advantage over Gang Green right now.
