The New York Jets have waived rookie FB Brannan Southerland. The announcement was made by Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Southerland (Georgia/Dacula, GA/6-0/244), originally signed as an undrafted free agent on May 1, was one of the nation's top fullbacks at Georgia.

There was no explanation given for the move.
