Cowher continues to make Jets look bad

Posted Jan 6, 2009

Bill Cowher continues to play games when it comes to answering questions about the Jets job.

Check out this headline in the New York Daily News, a paper that clearly has little respect for the Jets organization.

"Bill Cowher confirms Woody Johnson snub kept him from taking Jets job."

That is one of the most irresponsible headlines I have seen in all my years of covering sports.

So let me get this straight, if Woody had met with Cowher, he would have taken the job.

It's as simple as that?

"Bill Cowher, in his first extensive comments about his ill-fated flirtation with the Jets, said Tuesday morning there was a "very, very slim chance" that he would've accepted an offer to the coach the team, but the former Steelers coach confirmed that he wanted to meet with owner Woody Johnson to "get some kind of closure," wrote Rich Cimini.

Closure, what the heck does that mean? It sounds like a guy who just broke up with his girlfriend. Closure to what?

And then a shock jock asked him if Johnson had called to apologize to him for not being around for the meeting.

Say what? Why would Woody have to apologize for having to attend to business in Europe? Was the Pope in town, and he missed a Papal visit?
