In need of help at safety, the Jets added journeyman J.R. Reed on Wednesday. The announcement was made by Eric Mangini.

Reed just wrapped up his second stint with the Eagles when he was waived on October 21.

He has also been with the Falcons, Rams and Giants.

He was a fourth round pick of the Eagles in 2004 out of USF. Aside from playing safety, Reed is also a good kick returner.
