Cotchery on "The Catch"

Posted Nov 17, 2008

Q)What is Brett Favre like in the huddle - what is his demeanor like?

Cotchery: It is very special to have a guy like that step into your huddle. I didn’t see any nervousness on his face; I saw a quiet confidence on his face, so-to-speak. When he stepped into the huddle we knew we were going to be able to get it done because that’s the way he’s been this entire year.

Q)Were you concerned that the 46-yard catch might get overturned?

Cotchery: I knew it was a catch. I knew Brett (Favre) was going to give either me or Laveranues (Coles) a chance to make a play on the ball and it was a good opportunity to take a shot downfield at that time. I wanted to do everything in my power to make that catch, that play for the team at that point and I couldn’t get my other hand to the ball so I had to make sure I could get the ball close to me and hold on as tight as I could.

Q)Is that how you practiced that play?

Cotchery: Yeah, I started early in the week (Laughing). No, it is something where you are given the opportunity to make a play you want to do everything in your power to make that play at that time when you are given that opportunity. I am thankful that I was able to make that play at that time.

Q)How big a win was that in New England?

Cotchery: The Buffalo game was a big game for us and that made the St. Louis game important. And the St. Louis game made the New England game important, so to be able to pull out that victory was another big step for us and now we have to move on to focus on the Tennessee game.
