Bad news for NFL - Brady out for the year

Posted Sep 8, 2008

The New England Patriots issued a press release on Monday announcing the quarterback Tom Brady is out for the season with a knee injury.

"After extensive tests this morning, it was revealed that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's left knee, which was injured in the first quarter of yesterday's game, will require surgery. He will be placed on injured reserve and will miss the remainder of the 2008 season," said a Patriots spokesman.

This is really bad news for the NFL. Good quarterback play is so important to the success of the league, and Brady is the best in the game. The product is lessened when QB's like Brady get hurt. Half the league has quarterback issues, and when you have shaky QB play, it makes for a bad product to watch.

And the rules committee better do something about players rolling into the lower legs of quarterbacks, who are looking down field. Trent Green, Carson Palmer and now Brady are a few of the marquis signal-callers who had knees destroyed on a play like this.
