Jets sign Lowery

The New York Jets have signed CB Dwight Lowery, the team’s fourth-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. The announcement was made by Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Lowery (5-11/201/San Jose State/Santa Cruz, CA), the 114th overall pick, started all 25 games at cornerback for San Jose State, intercepting 13 passes for 147 yards and one touchdown. Lowery added 315 yards and a touchdown on 24 punt returns, deflected 14 passes, recovered three fumbles and posted 92 tackles (53 solos). A two-time All-WAC selection, he set a school record with nine interceptions in 2006. He spent his first two seasons at Cabrillo Junior College, where he intercepted 13 passes in 15 games as a free safety.
