Baker confused by how he's being treated

Jets tight end Chris Baker, who is understandably upset with his current contract, finally broke his silence to Mark Cannizzaro.

"I'm angry about the fact that they said, 'We're going to do something for you,' and nothing's being done," Baker told The Post. "It doesn't make any sense. I've been here six years and I've always done what they've asked me to do."

Baker's anger is understandable, due to the Jets somewhat inconsistent approach with player contracts. They gave into wide receiver Laveranues Coles after he blasted the team in the Star-Ledger. They gave into guard Brandon Moore after his one-day holdout during training camp last summer. But they wouldn't give into guard Pete Kendall's demands last year. And now Baker is getting the same treatment as Kendall.

So there is a little bit of an uneven playing field at work here.
