The Jets take a healthy roster into Sunday night's showdown with Miami…
Lucas Returns to Practice
"I think he will be fine to be honest with you," said Dolphins head coach Dave Wannstedt. "He came back today and was no worse than yesterday. Unless something was to happen tomorrow, I think he will be fine to start. I would expect it to go that way." The Jets have more to worry about than just Miami's quarterback situation. They are facing one of the toughest defenses in the league, and Herm Edwards knows it won't be an easy day for his offense. "Offensively, we know that it is going to be very difficult to move the ball on these guys," Edwards said. "They are a good defense, play well against the run, have excellent corners and excellent cover." Edwards also acknowledged the improved play of DE Jason Taylor against the run, and the Jets need to be aware of his presents, not just as a pass rusher. The Jets offensive line continues to make improvements, and could get a big boost if LG Dave Szott is able to return. Szott has been making good progress in his rehabilitation, and has begun to do some hitting drills with pads. He has yet to make a full return to practice, or compete in the team scrimmages, and the Jets are going to proceed with extreme caution. If Szott remains on schedule, he could make a return by December. In the meantime, J.P. Machado and Jon Goodwin will continue to platoon at left guard. LaMont Jordan's long run at the end of the Chargers game came on a play the Jets ran three times in a row. The Jets used Jordan to hammer away at the Chargers' defense in the fourth quarter, and on the third time the play was called, Jordan broke a tackle and was gone. When Edwards was asked what strategy he would have if he were coaching an opposing team punting to Santana Moss he said, "Punt it out of Bounds." Edwards likened Moss to two great punt returners from his playing days, Billy "White Shoes" Johnson and Rick Upchurch. Moss has become a special teams weapon for the Jets and leads the NFL in yards per return, with 20.6. T Kareem McKenzie and LB Mo Lewis returned to practice today, after sitting out yesterday's practice to rest their sore ankles. LB Khary Campbell is the only Jet on the injury list. He is questionable with a foot injury.
