Boland, like Mangini, has Cleveland roots

Posted Apr 11, 2008

According to a source close to Newsday, there is a change in the offing on the Jets beat.

The current Jets beat writer, Tom Rock, is being moved to the Giants beat.

And replacing Rock on the Jets beat, will be regular fill-in Erik Boland.

The current Giants beat writer, Arthur Staple, is being moved to a yet-to-be-determined beat, perhaps St. John's men's basketball.

Boland is a native of Cleveland who attended John Carroll University, the school that gave us Don Shula. Prior to joining Newsday, he worked for the Warren Tribune in Ohio.
