New York Post report incorrect

Posted Mar 28, 2008

The New York Post reported, in their Friday paper, that Laveranues Coles was getting a two or three-year contract extension. The story wasn't accurate according to ESPN.com.

According to ESPN writer Pat Yaskinkas, Coles didn't receive an extension, but the Jets did guarantee the last two years of his contract. So Coles will make $11 million over the next two years guaranteed.

The offer to guarantee Coles contract wasn't a new one. It's been on the table for close to a month.
