Vanderbilt WR Earl Bennett declares for draft

Posted Jan 10, 2008

Vanderbilt junior wide receiver Earl Bennett is leaving school and entering the NFL draft. The record-setting receiver is definitely the type of player that Eric Mangini and Mike Tannenbaum love. He is loaded with core values.

"It's not all about records," said Bennett. "It's about your character and how you carry yourself on and off the field. Hopefully, people will remember me by my character."

After that quote, he just moved up the Tangini draft board.

"You are talking about an outstanding young man who can get it done on the field," said his high school coach. "He is an outstanding young man and super football player."

Bennett is a 6-1, 202 pounder who is very good at catching the ball in traffic. He was constantly double and triple-teamed at Vanderbilt, and was still very productive.
