Pennington clearly has a bad ankle sprain

Posted Sep 9, 2007

Chad Pennington suffered a severely sprained right ankle in the third quarter of the Jets 38-14 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday.

He was injured on a sack by Patriots defensive end Jarvis Green. Pennington actually came back in the game and led the Jets on a 9 play - 70 yard scoring drive in the third quarter, and then was shutdown for the day.

The Jets visit Baltimore next week, and if Pennington can't play, it might be in their best interests to start third string quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo, their most mobile quarterback. Like the Patriots, the Ravens have a great pass rush. So having a great scrambler like "Tuey" might come in handy.
