The New York Jets announced that they will honor former wide receiver Wayne Chrebet with a special halftime ceremony on Sunday, September 23 when the Jets host the Miami Dolphins during Week 3 of the 2007 season.

Chrebet retired on June 2, 2006 second on the Jets all-time list with 580 career receptions and third on the franchise’s all-time list with 7,365 yards, for an average of 12.7 yards per catch.

Chrebet played his entire career (1995-2005) in a Jets uniform. As a rookie free agent in 1995, Chrebet moved from last on the depth chart that season during training camp, to opening day starter. He played in 152 career regular season games (third all-time among Jets wide receivers), starting 105, hauling in 41 touchdowns. In the postseason, he played in six games, making five starts, recording 19 catches for 269 yards for a 14.2 average and two scores.
