The Atlanta Falcons today announced that head coach Jim Mora has been released from the remaining two years of his contract.

Mora, 45, was named the club's 12th head coach in Falcons history on January 9, 2004. He compiled a 26-22 regular season record during his three seasons as head coach. "This was an extremely difficult decision for us," said Falcons owner & CEO Arthur Blank. "We had the highest hopes and aspirations for a long run with Jim as our coach, but we feel this decision is in the best long-term interests of our franchise. I have great respect for Jim’s passion for the game, and we wish Jim and his family all of the best."
