Jets cut five players

The New York Jets cut five players on Monday morning, most in anticipation of adding cornerback Ty Law

Among the cuts were cornerback Ray Mickens, safety Derek Pagel, guard Dave Yovanovits, cornerback Roosevelt Williams and running back Delvin Joyce.

Mickens, a third round selection in the 1996 Draft, missed all of 2004 with a torn ACL. His primary role was in the nickel package covering the slot receiver.

Pagel was taken in the fifth round of the 2003 Draft, a compensatory pick obtained by the Jets when the Washington Redskins signed Chad Morton as a restricted free agent.

Yovanovits was a seventh round pick in the 2003 Draft. He spent most of 2004 on the practice squad and saw action in four games, mostly on special teams.

Williams was signed by the Jets on August 2nd of this year after being originally selected by the Chicago Bears in the third round of the 2002 Draft.

Joyce was added in April of 2005 after originally being with the New York Giants. Recommended Stories
