Jets ink Jeff Cumberland to a three-year deal

The New York Jets re-signed their backup tight end for three more years. It seems that Gang Green will be moving on from Kellen Winslow next season, allowing the fifth year backup to compete for the starting position. Adding Cumberland for three more seasons will only increase the comfort level between him and Geno Smith.

The New York Jets re-signed tight end Jeff Cumberland to a contract extension. Cumberland signed a three-year contract, which should keep him in Green and White until the end of the 2017 season. The veteran was the second tight end on the roster last year, eventually replacing Kellen Winslow for the starting role on the depth chart towards the end of the season.
