Jason Pierre-Paul is still trying to regain his Pro Bowl form that helped lift the New York Giants…
The New York Giants finally had something to smile about after Monday night's game. Big Blue was able to earn its first win of the season, by defeating the Minnesota Vikings 23-7 on Monday Night Football. The Giants, behind the play of their defense, were able shutdown Vikings All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson, and not give up an offense score. "We needed this win under our belt", said Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul. ""As a defense, we played well, we shut them out the second half and that's what we needed. We have this win and we're going to build on it and that's it."
The Giants' defense held the reigning NFL MVP in Peterson to only 28 yards on 13 rushing attempts. Big Blue's defense also wreaked havoc on Vikings quarterback Josh Freeman; forcing a interception and allowed only 20 of his 53 passes to be completed giving him a measly QB rating of 6.1.
We needed it pretty badly but we got it," said Pierre Paul . "Everybody played as a team. At the end of the day, we're good."
With finally getting the elusive first win of the season, the Giants can now breathe a side of relief. New York also can build on this win and get its season back on track.
"It's a good win but we're supposed to win, especially against an NFC team," noted Pierre Paul. "At the end of the day things were working out for us. We're going to build on this and hopefully everybody can stick together and continue practicing well. Let's get on a roll."
The Giants next chance on building on this victory will come this Sunday, when they take on their NFC East division rival the Philadelphia Eagles, who they lost to 36-21 just two weeks ago.
"We're going to build on this week and hopefully we get back this week, we've got a short week, we turn around and play Philly," noted Pierre Paul. "We'll go from there."
