Earlier this month, Boomer Esiason had some strong words for Tim Tebow and the New York Jets. Find out Tebow's reaction to Esiason's bold declaration.

Tim Tebow is undoubtedly the NFL’s most scrutinized player, but the New York Jets quarterback refuses to hide from his critics.

Earlier in training camp, former Jets quarterback and current WFAN radio personality Boomer Esiason called Tebow a "good guy" but a "bad quarterback," imploring New York’s front office to release him before a quarterback controversy destroys Mark Sanchez’s confidence and tears apart the team.

“I don’t have any problem with Mr. Esiason,” Tebow said in response to Esiason’s comments. “That’s his opinion, everyone has their opinion and that doesn’t change my perspective of the show or him as a person. I wouldn’t be afraid of going on.”

And go on he did. On Thursday, Tebow joined WFAN’s Boomer and Carton to set the record straight and share his perspective on things.

“I would rather be known as someone with good character than a good football player but I do want to be known as a good football player as well,” Tebow said.

When greeted face-to-face with the NFL’s most famous backup quarterback, Esiason didn’t back down from his initial critique, admitting to the listening audience that he considers himself one of Tebow’s ‘biggest critics’.

The man nicknamed “Boomer” provided high praise for Tebow’s time at the University of Florida calling him ‘one of the greatest players in college football history.’ While Tebow and Boomer don’t see eye-to-eye on the Jets’ current quarterback situation, they each demonstrated a mutual respect and admiration on-air despite their difference of opinion.

When it comes to Tebow-mania, the former Heisman Trophy winner is one of the most polarizing athletes of the past decade. In spite of growing cynicism regarding Tebow’s ability to coexist with Sanchez in New York, the Jets’ backup quarterback continues to stay even keel.

“I’ve heard a lot of negativity my whole life and I don’t really let that get me too high or too low, acknowledged Tebow. “I just want to be the same person and have a smile on my face. I never change based on one person’s analysis of me or how I play.”
