And now Chad Ochocinco is no longer a member of the New England Patriots.
Ochocinco, 34, didn't grasp the playbook well. And he never developed good timing with quarterback Tom Brady.
At a cost of $5.75 million last season, the Patriots didn't get much production from the former All-Pro wide receiver.
He caught just 15 passes for 276 yards and a touchdown last season
He was acquired from the Cincinnati Bengals for a fifth-round pick and a sixth-round pick.
“Thoroughly enjoyed the oppurtunity [sic] to play for the ‘Patriot’ organization," Ochocinco wrote on his Twitter account. "fans were [expletive] wicked awesome, I wish all of you the best."
According to reports, Ochocinco jumped offsides at practice and frequently lined up in the wrong spot.
Ochocinco was cut even though he accepted a paycut from $3 million to $925,000 this offseason.
Now an unrestricted free agent who's not subject to waiver system, Ochocinco is free to sign with another team immediately.
