Tebow Takeover

Sometimes reality is stranger than fiction. Tim Tebow's arrival in New York is sending shockwaves throughout the nation.

As first reported by Jay Glazer of FoxSports.com, Tim Tebow has been traded to the New York Jets along with a 2012 seventh round pick in exchange for 2012 fourth and sixth-round draft choices.

In what has been a ho-hum offseason for New York, the Jets made a major splash by acquiring the former Broncos quarterback. While many expected the Green and White to make a bid for Peyton Manning, it is Tebow who will be making the trip east to the Big Apple.

Despite leading the Broncos to an AFC West crown and a berth in the divisional round of the 2011 playoffs, John Elway, Denver’s Vice President of Football Operations, was not enamored with the idea of appointing Tebow the franchise’s quarterback.

For Tebow, it’s a bitter ending in Denver as he helped the Broncos overcome a 1-4 start and clinch a playoff spot for the first time since the 2006 season.

In Week 11 of the 2011 season, Tebow led the Broncos on a 95-yard game-winning touchdown drive, handing the Jets a crushing 17-13 defeat at Mile High. New York’s front office took special notice to Tebow’s talents, despite his limitations as a drop back passer.

With the Jets harkening back to their ground and pound days, Tebow may serve as the ideal candidate to help resurrect New York’s Wildcat offense. Gang Green’s incumbent signal caller, Mark Sanchez, struggled in 2011 and caught the ire of the Jets fan base. A divided Jets locker room would certainly benefit from Tebow’s strong moral fabric and compassionate leadership.

With new offensive coordinator Tony Sparano at the helm, the Jets are aiming to re-establish a ‘run heavy’ offensive identity. A pioneer of the NFL’s Wildcat offense, Sparano is chomping at the bit to make full use Tebow’s playmaking abilities out of the backfield.

As the media storm accompanies Tebow’s New York takeover, the Jets now hold claim to the NFL’s ‘chosen one.’
