The following players were added to the Jets’ roster and will participate in the Club’s mini-camp from May 2 through May 4: LB Vince Alexander (Penn), SS Wes Bautovich (Texas A&M), DE Kenan Blackmon (Tulane), QB Marquel Blackwell (South Florida), RB Chad Brinker (Ohio), T Bobby Brandt (Indiana), LB Mark Brown (Auburn), WR Lou Fanucchi (Boise State), FS DeShaun Hill (Southern California), CB William Hunter (Syracuse), CB Kevin Knight (North Carolina), P Sean McNicholas (Edinboro), WR Cecil Moore (East Tennessee State), CB Demario Suggs (Michigan State), TE Jason Thomas (Nevada-Las Vegas), T Willie Ofenheusle (Tennessee), FS Ralph Parent (Boston College), DT Alonzo Shuler (Benedict (SC) College), TE Rolando Shuler (Benedict (SC) College) and WR Shawn Witten (Virginia Tech).
Additionally, the Jets have invited the following players to their mini-camp for three-day try-outs: DE Lance Gibson (Central Washington), RB Ross Moline (Wisconsin-LaCrosse), WR Mike Oliva (California-Davis), G Steve Parretta (Marshall & Long Island’s Longwood High School), WR Bryan Peterson (North Carolina State), TE Gabe Reid (Brigham Young), QB B.J. Rhode (Boise State), RB Ian Smart (C.W. Post) and S Eric Williams (C.W. Post).
The Jets also announced the signing of free agent kicker Danny Kight, who has played with the Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore ravens. Kight, a 6-1, 214-pound kicker out of Augusta State, has played in 38 regular season games in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts (1999-2000) and Baltimore Ravens (2001).
