A look back at the week that was for the New York Jets via our good friends at TSX…
Free Agency Primer: Cullen Jenkins
With 18 upcoming free agents on the team, New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum and head coach Rex Ryan's will have some big decision to make this offseason. Thankfully, we at the Green and White Report will not have to make any of these personnel decisions, but we offer up a handful of viable free agent targets for Gang Green's sore spot, their defensive line. The first in our series of impact players on the horizon for the Jets – Defensive End Cullen Jenkins, Green Bay Packers The Skinny: Not only is Cullen Jenkins now a Super Bowl champion, but he is the younger brother of Jets nose tackle Kris Jenkins. In his seventh year out of Central Michigan, Cullen Jenkins had a strong campaign with the eventual champion Packers amassing seven sacks on the season. Jenkins did turn 30 in January, but certainly has a few more productive years ahead of him. He's strong off the edge and is a solid run stopper as well. He'd fit well into the Jets 3-4 scheme. Will big bro be in his ear to get him to play for the Jets? The Fit: The Jenkins brothers would forge a dominating force for New York with Kris blasting through the interior and Cullen rushing around the edges. Cullen Jenkins brings championship pedigree to a Jets squad that is desperately trying to get over the hump and make their first Super Bowl appearance in 43 years. He's also an ideal fit for the Jets locker room, a player who is loose and free-flowing. Post-game following a Green Bay win over the Jets on Halloween at The New Meadowlands Stadium, Jenkins emerged to talk to reporters with a Mohawk, long feather earrings, giant gold chains and a cut-off denim shirt. He looked eerily like Mr. T. It's that oddball stuff that would make him a great fit for Rex.
