Piece by piece, or person by person, new general manager Mike Maccagnan continues to reshape the Jets personnel department. The latest move was the hiring of Brian Heimerdinger as the new director of player personnel.

The reason Mike Maccagnan and Todd Bowles are in New York instead of John Idzik and Rex Ryan is because there just wasn’t enough talent on this roster. There is a solid foundation of young, specifically, defensive talent to build around and a lot of cap space to acquire more talent but for all the Jets deficiencies last year it was a lack of talent throughout the roster that led to a 4-12 season.
